Background
In April 2007 Sgript Cymru and Sherman Theatre joined forces to create Sherman Cymru, a new powerhouse for theatre in Wales.
The company's aim is to produce and present ambitious, compelling theatre that inspires audiences, to lead initiatives that engage participants with the creative process of theatre-making and to seek to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for theatre practitioners.
As part of the merger, the company required a new website that would reflect their culture, creativity and personality and ultimately, help to increase audiences.
Solution
Imaginet created a visually stunning website that is extremely clean and allows the imagery on each page to breathe. The design is combined with an extremely functional back-end allowing visitors to book and buy tickets for shows on-line. Key features include:
- A site wide bilingual CMS allows the company to add and maintain content such as What’s On, News, Reviews and Playwright’s profiles quickly and easily
- The latest shows are highlighted on the homepage with a prominent link for users to book tickets
- Imaginet built a booking system that holds all tickets for shows in a database that offers real-time availability to visitors
- Visitors are able to select concessionary tickets during the checkout process and the best seats available are allocated at that time, whilst updating the back-end system ready for the next booking
- A registration and emailing system allows Sherman Cymru to send emails to customers who wish to find out about what's on at the theatre, helping to generate more ticket sales
